Quite a few more blemishes on our history. Let us not forget that the face (particularly the nose) of the Sphinx was broken, perhaps deliberately. At one time, the vandalism was attributed to Napoleon's soldiers, but this claim has been refuted. [The nose was missing long before the French arrival, probably as early as the 15th century or perhaps even the 10th, and erosion has also taken its toll.] Thanks for sharing this, and I'll make it a point to boycott any parties at which mummies are unwrapped!
When you raise the issue of the fact that mummies were the bodies of humans, remember that in the 18th and 19th centuries, Europeans, including and perhaps especially the English, did not think of Middle East inhabitants as exactly people. Mummies would not necessarily have seemed like human remains to them. I understand why archaeologists want to dig up old cemeteries but I have long (perhaps always) been aware that these are real people’s ancestors. (As it happens, some of my ancestors were Middle Eastern.)
I too have always been fascinated with ancient Egypt. However this is a story I haven’t heard about. I was fortunate enough to see the original exhibition of King Tut in Chicago back in the 70s. Seeing the pyramids in person someday is on the bucket list! I too have the LEGO website open on my browser quite often! We are moving soon so I am dreading moving all of the LEGO though.

Merely only need to follow all of " science" which extends past the length of one's national nose,Victorian sized or others. Makes no difference.
