Last I heard you're allowed to have your own opinion on monarchy. Maybe that's difficult for people to hear right now. Personally I'm conflicted between being sad that she passed away and outraged at the juxtaposition of the pomp and ceremony and the real poverty that exists in the UK.
I'm always happy to see your email turn up for one of these. Not just to see your work but to learn as well.
With due respect Marina, the UK is not the only constitutional monarchy in the world, Europe nor Northern Europe. While we all should debate the impacts of decolonisation, I do think its up to the British people themselves to choose "the system" they want. I believe that is an entirely seperate conversation due to the misunderstandings of constitutional monarchy.
At this moment in time in the UK there isn't a large Republican sentiment, not even in Scotland where there is indeed a large support for independence, they want the monarchy to remain head of state.
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. It was not my purpose to discuss this here today, but I do have included links to articles that I believe provide more information on the subject. x
Thank you, I love your work I buy from you a lot. And I fear the commenter above thinks I'm offended by anyone having an opinion on monarchy.
I'm aware of our constitution and history and I live here in Wales. I'm not a monarchist but there are other issues within our nations that we are pressing for already that I'm quite sure the world has no interest in but we do.
My point is that republicanism is not on that list regardless of one's opinion.
Hi Marina
Nice tribute to a very widely respected individual, whatever one's views on the Monarchy.
You might be interested in some other images of her as a Princess ...
